Srikalahasthi Pipes (SPL) is a leading Ductile Iron Pipe manufacturing company with its unit in Rachagunneri, Near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. SPL has implemented an integrated Electroway Project as part of the business process reengineering, which included integration of the Weighment sensors of weighbridges with ERP to get real-time information into ERP. Earlier, in order to handle In-bound and out bound materials the material handling section at SPL used to depend on standalone Ingress, manual registers, challans and Excel sheets and would feed the Weighment details manually to the ERP for generating the required reports and Invoices. The business used to suffer due to manual mistakes. The non-tallying of stocks created breaches. Under the integration initiative, SPL achieved single entry point of data and multiple access to the data records, such that all transactions are online and would be available to stake holders at any point of time. The IoT based approach and solution ensured that all the security gates are integrated to the ERP to receive and punch data. It also ensured that weighbridges are integrated to the EPR through connectors such that the Weighment details are saved as records in corresponding ERP tables without any manual intervention. The multiple benefits from this project: No duplication of data entry, there was savings in man hours on counting of papers, challans, saving in usage of papers, cartridges, which had led to optimization of manpower and resources thus saving huge amount of money for SPL.
