M Venkateshwarlu is the Joint General Manager - Corporate IT at Larsen & Toubro. A business and result oriented professional with over 30 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, SAP, IT infrastructure, business strategy alignment, stakeholder’s management, budgeting, IT policies, team management and vendor management. Corporate-IT team at L&T is driving various IT transformation projects across the organization. This includes successful migration of 12 SAP ERP instances to HANA database & 42 peripheral systems like CRM, BI, BO, APO, SOLMAN etc., to Sybase in six and a haf months. Another major initiative the Corporate-IT driving in L&T is RPA (Robotic Process Automation) in four different areas: 1) Vendor Invoice Automation: Deployment of OCR and RPA automated the entire process of feeding the invoices to the BPM system and payment functions. This reduced SSC staff and improved SLAs. 2) Service Meter Reading Automation: RPA bot automated the daily machine run hour postings of equipment. This resulted in reduced inventory and improved customer service. 3) Automation of SAP BASIS monitoring jobs: RPA bot took over drudgery job of consultants’ login to each SAP instance to check 16 + parameters. 4) Automation of GST credit claim on Airline invoices: Claiming GST credit was a challenge, as the company has several business verticals. RPA and OCR technologies simplified the process of claiming GST credit.
