At Manipal Hospital, the team led by Dhomne, launched a porter management software. The hospital uses around 60 porters a day across its 14 floors. With this newly started auto porter assigning system, nurses can easily request for a porter and the nearest porter available is assigned with the task, hence saving time. There are three main stakeholders in the entire process: Nurses (who request for porters), porter supervisor (who receives the request to allocate a porter) and the porter (who actually performs the given task by nurse). Post implementation of the RFID based solution (the porter management software), the turnaround time of the porters has been reduced by 60 percent.
